Getting Around

Rochester City Bus

Public bus service is provided by Rochester City Lines.  Monday through Saturday routes begin between 5 and 6 a.m. at the intersection of Second Avenue and Second Street Southwest.

The last buses on most routes leave donwtown at 6:15 p.m.  Limited evening service is available to some Rochester locations; check the current bus schedule for updated times and routes. Limited service is provided on Saturdays from 8:15 a.m. to 6:40 p.m.  There is no service on Sundays or major holidays.  For more information, call Rochester City Lines, (507) 288-4353 or visit their web site at www.rochesterbus.com

 Park & Ride 

A system of Park & Ride lots enables you to drive your vehicle into town, park at one of several safe, convenient locations, then board a city bus to take you to your final destination.

Park and ride sites are located at Northwest Plaza at 55th Street NW; Wehrenberg Theatre at Shoppes on Maine; Cub Foods at 15th Avenue SE and Highway 14 East; across the street from Bethel Lutheran Church in the 800 block of Third Avenue SE; Shopko North at 37th Street and Highway 63 and WalMart South.

All Rochester City Line passes are honored by the Park and Ride Routes and the cash fare is $2.00. Phone: (507) 288-4353

Interstate & Intrastate Bus Service

There is one bus departing at 5:45 p.m. on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays for Minneapolis/St Paul, making stops at the International Airport at 7:05 p.m. and downtown Minneapolis at 8 p.m.

One bus returns to Rochester, leaving downtown Minneapolis daily at 8:15 a.m.'and departing those same days from the International Airport at 9:05 a.m.. It arrives in Rochester at 10:25 a.m.

Taxi & Airport Service

  • Yellow Cab Co. at (507) 282-2222 provides taxi service in the Rochester area 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays.
  • Rochester Transportation Systems Inc., (507) 282-2222, operates motor coaches that run to and from the Rochester airport.  All scheduled flights are covered and paassengers are picked up or dropped at various downtown hotels, motels, lodging facilities, and hospitals.  Rochester Transportation System also offers limo service to and from the Rochester and Twin Cities airports by appointment.
  • GO Rochester Direct offers shuttle service to the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport 14 times daily, seven days a week.  Reservations can be made online at www.gorochesterdirect.com or by calling (507) 280-9270. 

Handicapped Transportation

  • R & S Transport Inc., provides transportation for individuals with special needs or disabilities.  The vans are equipped for a maximum of two occupants with wheelchairs.  For information, call (507) 289-5080.
  • Zumbro Independent Passenger Service (ZIPS) offers door to door transportation for people who cannot use Rochester City Lines bus service due to a disability.  To use ZIPS, people must first submit an application.  To do so, call (507) 328-2439.  For reservations call (507) 288-8404 with at least one-day advance notice.  Riders are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis.
