Know What
You Are Getting Before You Hire a Real Estate Agent
In Rochester there are
nearly 70 real estate companies and over 600 Real Estate agents. What
you may not know is that the National Association of Realtors reports
that 87% of the Real Estate Agents leave the real estate business before
there fifth year as an agent. If you want the best – look
for experience and commitment.
Some basic rules to apply when you want the best agent to work
for you:
Demand
experience.
Real Estate sales is plagued by high turnover. This creates a business
that is made up of many new agents with less than 3-5 years experience
who have good intentions but lack experience and expertise. This usually
doesn’t show until there is a problem that could have been avoided.
Demand an experienced real estate consultant. It doesn’t cost you more
and could save you thousands of dollars and a lot of aggravation.
Look for a commitment.
Check out the agent’s production (number of home sales),
years in the business, client recommendations, education, accreditation
and special designations given for advanced studies.
Does the agent offer a
written
guarantee of satisfaction?
A written guarantee should specifically state what the agent/broker
would do if they don’t live up to their guarantee or promises.
